WHAT IS COUNSELLING?
Counselling is the opportunity to talk confidentially with someone who is trained to listen. Counsellors are able to help you understand what you are feeling and through these discussions help reduce any pain or distress these feelings may cause.
People reach out for support through counselling for many reasons and choosing to engage in this work is an amazing act of self-care. Counselling can help you:
-
Deal with major life events like a bereavement or breakdown of a relationship.
-
Recognise and understand patterns of behaviour and how you relate/interact with the world.
-
Process and heal from past experiences.
-
Find manageable coping mechanisms and make meaningful changes.
-
Deepen your understanding of yourself and find self-acceptance.
Counsellors do not give advice, make the decisions for you or make judgements. They are there to listen and respond with understanding and help you explore your ways forward.
I can help with the following issues:
-
Depression
-
Anxiety
-
Bereavement / grief
-
Relationship issues
-
Low self esteem
